Diana Spencer

100 Women Street Gallery (international women)

Known as the People’s Princess, Diana became the Princess of Wales in 1981 upon marrying Charles, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II. Diana dived into charity work and took action in several charities advocating for causes such helping people with HIV/AIDS, fighting against landmines, cancer and leprosy treatment and the disabled. She also advocated for battling poverty and homelessness.

Diana publicly shared her struggles with depression and bulimia, an early pioneer into public awareness about mental health. She had two sons, princes William and Harry. Although constantly in the public eye, Diana carried herself with class and grace in every detail of her life. Diana’s untimely death in a car crash in 1997 shocked the world.
