Kurdistan Parliament


The Kurdistan Parliament is the democratically-elected legislature of the Kurdistan Region. It has one chamber with 111 seats, led by a Parliament Speaker.

Parliament examines proposals for new laws, scrutinizes governance in the Kurdistan Region, and debates major issues of the day.


Of the 111 MPs, at least 30% must be women. Also, there are five seats reserved for Turkomans, and five seats for Christians.
